2005

The College grounds at St George's and the glorious weather on Saturday 3rd September provided a fine setting for the 2005 Sleaford Historic Car & Motorcycle Show, with vehicles representing nearly every decade since motoring began.

With entertainment supplied by Swaton Raceway and the Newark Radio Controlled Model Racing Club, there was plenty of live action to add to the static display of vehicles. The Indoor Craft Fair in the main college hall proved quite an attraction this year, with splendid stalls offering a wide range of superb crafts and gift items. In the soaring temperatures, the ice-cream van was probably the most popular food stall but there was a wide choice on offer.

The Committee is very grateful to all the sponsors and to everyone who helped with the organisation before the event and on the day. Our regular roving commentator, Jim Rollins, was back in action for the day and did a great job keeping the visitors informed, drawing on his wealth of anecdotes about every vehicle he saw and talking to the vehicle owners about their pride-and-joys.

The trophies were made especially for the show again by Ferg Phillip of Martin Youth Bikes and were presented by the sponsors and committee members, helped by The Mayor of Sleaford, Councillor Derek Tomlinson, and Councillor Mrs Olwen Hager, Chairman of North Kesteven District Council.

At the end of the prizegiving ceremony, Debbie Scott announced a special Chairman's Award and welcomed members of Rusko Racing to collect a trophy in recognition of their enthusiasm and commitment.

Next year's show is scheduled for Saturday 2nd September 2006, hopefully on the same site. Watch the website next year for more details www.oden.co.uk/sccms
