Sleaford Historic Car
& Motorcycle Show 2002
Saturday 7th September 2002
The 2002 show saw around 200 vehicles and
their owners enjoying a warm sunny day in the super grounds of
Westholme and St George's College, Sleaford. Although car numbers
were slightly down on the previous year, this did allow more space
between the rows of vehicles for the public to get a better view
of the cars and showed them to their best advantage. Bike entries
were up again and a number of late entries arrived taking advantage
of the weather forecast being proved wrong once again.
A new feature was the model train, brought
by the Lincoln & District Model Engineering Society members,
which was offering rides from the site towards the pedestrian
access to the Town Centre. The newly appointed Sleaford Town Crier
made his first appearance at the show in full regalia and 'cried'
the news about the show at The Farmers Market, and vice versa.
A range of indoor stalls were complemented by exhibitions by the
Sleaford Art Group, whose members were also displaying 'Paintings
on the Railings' in Money's Yard, and an exhibition by the Sleaford
& District Camera Club, the official event photographers.
Outdoor stalls were joined by a licensed bar, pizzas, ice cream,
doughnuts, burgers and the Lions hotdogs.
Every vehicle that is entered is special
in some way and judging the classes is difficult, so once again
the committee gave that responsibility to the entrants themselves,
so all we had to do was count the votes!
